The Allahabad high court bench in Lucknow dismissed a petition challenging the election of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from the Lucknow parliamentary constituency.
Justice A N Verma dismissed the petition on March 24 on the ground that it was 'completely bereft of material facts so as to disclose a cause of action'.
The petition was filed by S N Tripathi, who had argued that Vajpayee's election should be declared void as the provisions of Representation of the People Act were not complied with.
