United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan on Friday assured full cooperation to India in its probe into the findings of the Volcker committee, which named Congress party and K Natwar Singh as beneficiaries in the Iraqi oil deals and said the report was only a fact-finding document and not judicial in nature.

"We have already indicated that we will cooperate with any government that wants to follow up the Volcker report. But let me stress that Volcker report was a fact-finding report of administrative nature and not judicial one," Annan told reporters in Islamabad [Images].

"It is up to the governments to determine what they want to do, whether to get facts and pursue them and of course if any government wants to do that and needs documentation from Volcker Committee and the UN, we will cooperate," he added.

The Secretary General said he was not aware whether the officials of the Indian inquiry committee reached New York yet, "but I suspect if they do go, they will talk to Volcker and also the UN Commission to discuss how to cooperate to get the documents they needed."

To another question, he said, all records relating to the oil-for-food probe report will be safeguarded. Annan is here to attend the international donors meet to raise relief funds for the victims of October 8 earthquake.
