The Jammu and Kashmir [Images] Legislative Assembly Speaker Tara Chand has ordered postponement of all financial and other House committes to facilitate unhindered relief and rehabilitation measures to earthquake-hit areas.

The postponement will be effective till further orders, an official spokesman said, adding a new calendar of meetings would be circulated soon after a decision was taken.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said the Speaker, his deputy Mohammad Akbar Lone and employees of the Assembly Secretariat would contribute one day of their salary towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Chand has expressed sympathies to the bereaved families, the spokesman said.
