Four tremors on Wednesday shook Kashmiris, who are already living under the shadow of aftershocks following the unprecedented quake of October 8.

The first tremor, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, was felt at 12.02 am, according to the local meteorological department. The epicentre of the quake was in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The second tremor, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, came at 2.02 am. Its epicentre was also in PoK. "It was followed by a third shock at 8 am, which measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale," said a spokesman of the local met department in Srinagar [Images].

The fourth tremor was felt at 8.46 am and measured 5.4 on the Richter Scale, which triggered heavy panic among the residents in Srinagar. They ran out of their homes in panic.

"Fifty tremors have hit the valley after the devastating quake on October 8. The tremors were normal to moderate, having their epicenter in PoOK," according to L C Ram, director of local met office.

Local seismologists say that aftershocks will continue to rock the valley in the coming days and months.
