Long distance trains cancelled down south

Due to breaches in the railway track in Andhra Pradesh, the Southern Railway Saturday announced the cancellation of eight long distance trains scheduled to leave Sunday, besides diversion of equal number of trains.

The trains cancelled were: Chennai-Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express, Chennai-Vijayawada Pinakini Express, Chennai-Delhi GT Express, Chennai-Hyderabad Express, Alleppey-Dhanbad/Tata Express, Chennai-Jammu Tawi Express, Nagercoil-Howrah Express and Chennai Central-Kakinada Circar Express.

Raptisagar Express between Thiruvanathapuram and Gorakhpur would be diverted via Dharmavaram, Guntakkal, Wadi and Secunderabad, while Thiruvanthapuram-New Delhi-Kerala Express would run via Tirupattur, Krishnarajapuram, Dharmvaram and Gooty.

The Thiruvanathapuram-Guwhati Express would be diverted through Dharmapuram, Gooty, Nandyal and Guntur, while Chennai-Delhi Rajdhani would be diverted through Renigunta, Wadi, Daund, Manmad and Itrasi.

Tamil Nadu Express would run via Renigunta, Gooty and Secunrabad, while Navjivan would run via Guntakal, Wadi, Kalyan and Surat. Chennai-Howrah Coromandel Express would run via Renigunta, Gooty and Guntur.

Chennai-Howrah Mail would run via Renigunta, Guntakkal and Guntur, while Chennai-Hyderabad Chairminar and Tamil Nadu Express would run via Renigunta, Guntakal and Guntur.

Five special trains from Chennai to Thiruvanthapuram, Mangalore, Nagercoil, Bangalore and Kumbakonam would run Saturday to clear extra rush of passengers, it said.
