The Delhi government Monday decided to regularise driver Kuldeep and give out-of-turn promotion to conductor Budh Prakash of a Delhi Transport Corporation bus who displayed exemplary alertness by throwing a bomb out of the vehicle in Govindpuri on Saturday averting a major tragedy.

The Delhi Cabinet, at a meeting in New Delhi chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, also decided to give them a reward of Rs two lakh each.

Besides, the government-run DTC would also reward them for their bravery, Dikshit told reporters.

Kuldeep, who works with DTC on contractual basis, will be regularised in the department, she said.

Kuldeep and Budh Prakash averted a major tragedy when they threw out a bag containing a bomb left by one passenger.

Five persons were injured after the bomb exploded on the road. Police said at least eight to 10 people would have died if the bomb had exploded inside the bus.
