The first Indo-US high-level meeting on the civilian nuclear programmes after the landmark July 18, 2005 agreement between the two countries concluded in Mumbai on Thursday, according to the Department of Atomic Energy.
The meeting was held between January 9 and 12 in the form of a workshop in the city. The on-going cooperation in various areas, including high-energy nuclear physics and regulatory agencies of the two countries, was endorsed by the workshop, DAE spokesperson Dr S K Malhotra told PTI.
R Shane Johnson, the acting director of the office of Nuclear Energy Science and Technology under the US Department of Energy led the 18-member US delegation.

Dr R B Grover, director, Strategic Planning Group of the DAE, led the 12-member Indian delegation.
The Indo-US group also visited the Tarapur Atomic Power Station Units 3 and 4 of 500MW each.
"This was an exercise undertaken by DAE to show India's latest indigenous capability," Malhotra said, adding that both delegations expressed keen interest in nuclear power and other applications of nuclear energy and pointed out the gains to be derived by sharing of best practices for nuclear plant design, construction, commissioning, operation, safety, life extension and regulatory oversight.
