With Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh set to seek a confidence vote in the state Assembly on January 27, Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday night sent senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu as an observer to oversee the evolving political situation in the state.
BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar has been asked to accompany Naidu as a co-observer, party media cell convener Siddharth Nath Singh told PTI.
Earlier on Wednesday, H D Kumaraswamy, leader of the splinter Janata Dal (Secular) group, had asserted in Udupi that there was no change in his plans to form an alternative government with BJP in the state.
