B S Yediyurappa, deputy chief minister designate of the new Bharatiya Janata Party-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government to be sworn-in in Karnataka on February 3, Sunday said the government would formulate a Common Minimum Programme and strive to provide good governance compared to the previous Dharam Singh-led ministry.

Talking to newsmen in Mysore, Yediyurappa said priority would be accorded to all sectors including agriculture, information technology and biotechnology.

He said a full fledged ministry would be sworn in on February 3 with the BJP coming to power for the first time in southern India. Though the BJP secured 79 seats in the 2004 elections and emerged the single largest party it had to wait for 20 months to assume power, he added.

Yediyurappa said he would meet former prime minsiter H D Deve Gowda and seek his blessings. H D Kumaraswamy, leader of the JD(S)-BJP alliance would meet former prime minsiter A B Vajpayee and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Lal Kishenchand Advani and discuss the Common Minimum Programme, he added.

Yediyurappa received a warm welcome from his partymen. He later participated in the Shivrathri Jatramahotsava at Suttur.
