The acquired land complex at Ayodhya has been declared unsafe in a report by the fire department that says its temporary structures do not fulfill safety norms.

The report prepared by Gorakhpur Chief Fire Officer J K Singh Bhadauria said the temporary structures at the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi Mandir-Babri Masjid complex were "dangerous, not only for pilgrims, but also for the security personnel deployed there".

The CFO visited the site on May 26 and submitted a report on May 30, suggesting immediate preventive measures.

Fire Officer R S Tripathi deputed at the site said he had received the report, which pointed out that there were places in and around the makeshift temple where cables were exposed and switch gears installed on wooden panels.

"These points are prone to fire. The entry and exit points pass through a 'pandal' and since the fencing has been done for crowd control, there is no escape route for trapped people in case of an emergency," Tripathi said, quoting the report.

It had been forwarded to the higher authorities, including the Faizabad commissioner besides fire department headquarters at the state capital, he said.

Inspector-General Fire Services Daya Shankar Singh and DIG Fire Services B P Singh, however, said they were yet to recieved the report.

"I am unaware of any such report," said the IG. "The report might have come, but I have not seen it yet," said his deputy.
