Stepping up its probe against Apollo hospital, which has been accused of tampering with Rahul Mahajan's [Images] medical records, the Delhi [Images] police has summoned for questioning as many as 50 of its doctors and other employees, six of whom were quizzed on Thursday.
Initiating a process of "consolidating" its evidence against the premier hospital, a top investigating officer told PTI, "They will interrogate all staffers directly or indirectly involved in providing treatment to Rahul."
It questioned three junior doctors, one technician and two security guards for nearly two hours to get the details of what happened after Rahul was admitted and the treatment given to him over a period of five days of his stay in the hospital.
"We want to know why was he put on ventilator after his admission. Why was he kept in Intensive Care Unit for nearly five days if he had no injuries, disease or intoxication as per the hospital medical report," police sources said.
They also want to know why the medico-legal certificate was prepared in the absence of police.
The sources said 50-odd people would be questioned in batches of 10 during the next few days.
"We will question doctors, nurses, staffers and paramedics... all those involved in providing treatment to Rahul," they added.
Police on June 9 registered a first information report against Apollo hospital for giving false information to its officials in the sensational drug abuse case, a day after a city court directed it to take action against the premier private hospital.
The court has also asked the police to file a status report on its investigations against Apollo by July 7.
