Rajiv Gandhi assasination case convicts Murugan and Nalini have resumed their fast at the central prison in Vellore seeking visa for their daughter to pursue her studies in India.

Q branch sources in Vellore on Monday morning said Murugan, who is facing death sentence in the case, went on fast on Sunday evening while his wife Nalini, serving life sentence, began her hunger strike on Monday.

The couple was seeking visa for their daughter Harithra, presently in Sri Lanka [Images], to pursue her studies in India.

They had gone on fast for a similar reason on June 14 and ended the protest following the receipt of a letter from one of Murugan's relatives informing that Harithra was likely to get the visa soon.
