PM welcomes Putin stand on Iran

On the eve of the crucial International Atomic Energy Agency meeting on Iran nuclear issue, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] has spoken to Russian President Vladmir Putin during which he welcomed efforts of Moscow [Images] to address the Tehran's nuclear programme through dialogue and consultation.

"The leaders exchanged views in context of the forthcoming meeting of the board of governors of the IAEA on March 6. The prime minister welcomed Russia's [Images] efforts to address the issue related to Iran's nuclear programme through dialogue and consulations," a Prime Minister's Office spokesman said.

The telephone call, which lasted for 20 minutes, was initiated by the Indian side, he said.
