Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] said on Thursday that 'all options' were open on the issue of promulgating an ordinance on redefining office of profit and hailed Sonia Gandhi's [Images] resignation from Lok Sabha.

"There is no explicit decision as of now. We have not considered the ordinance. All options are open. We will discuss it with other political parties," Dr Singh told reporters.

Apparently referring to difficulties faced by incumbents in varioius parties, including the Congress and Left allies, Dr Singh said, "There is a problem and all political parties and political persons are affected."

Asked about Gandhi's decision to resign as Lok Sabha MP and National Advisory Council chairperson, he said this has once again proved that she is the country's 'tallest leader and has a rare commitment to moral values which you do not find in plenty in our country'.

On whether others charged with holding offices of profit should take a hint from her resignation, Dr Singh said, "I don't know." He gave a similar response when asked about Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee [Images].

Asked why Parliament was adjourned abruptly, Dr Singh said all political parties wanted to go and campaign for the elections. "This decision was not made on Wednesday. This decision was made with the consent of all political parties many, many days ago that the House will reconvene after the elections on May 10," he said.
