Kanpur: 6 beaten up by train co-passengers

Fellow passengers beat up six persons aboard the Bikaner-Guwahati Express on suspicion of stealing cash from three persons travelling in the same coach, according to the government railway police.

The men allegedly robbed the passengers of Rs 30,000 on Sunday after offering spurious chewing tobacco to them.

Dayal, Santram, Ashok Kumar, Dayapal, Gurdev Singh and Ram Lal boarded the second air conditioned coach from Allahabad. They began playing cards and invited other passengers to join them.

Passengers beat up the six men suspecting them of stealing the money.

The police asked the injured passengers to alight from the train at the Kanpur central railway station. A case has been registered against the passengers who beat up the six men.
