A district court on Monday fixed September 6 for further hearing of an application seeking withdrawal of a case of treason against outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India chief Shahid Badra Falahi and six others.

District judge A K Sinha posted the matter for September 6 after lawyers opposing the prosecution application sought more time for filing of evidence.

The district police had charged the SIMI chief and six others with treason and delivering inflammatory speeches at a meeting in 2001.

Later, in June this year, the state government had moved the court seeking withdrawal of the case, which was opposed by local lawyers.

The lawyers formed an 'Adhivakta Vichar Manch' and filed an application in the court opposing the prosecution's application.
