On Saturday, Priyanka Vadra aggressively batted for her brother and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, saying no one should underestimate him as a politician and he will prove wrong all those who think he is a novice.

Priyanka, who is on a roadshow in Rae Bareli district for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, also backed the Amethi MP's controversial statements saying he knew history very well.

"No one should write off anyone in politics. My brother will prove him (Mulayam) wrong with time and days to come," Priyanka said referring to a statement made by UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav that Rahul is a political novice.

Priyanka, who is on the first day of her two-day road show in Amethi and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituencies, was speaking at a function while campaigning for Congress candidate Shivbalak Passi in Salon assembly constituency in Rae Bareli district.

On Rahul's controversial statements, including the one on the division of Pakistan, Priyanka said, "He knows history very well."

Appealing to people to strengthen the hands of Rahul and help him in fulfilling his mission, Priyanka said he always thinks about his constituency and whenever she meets him he discusses various development schemes in the area.

Priyanka said she is campaigning in Amethi and Rae Bareli at the behest of her brother.

Addressing women gathered at the venue, Priyanka said, "I am a mother and I know that every mother wants good future for their children. The comfort in the life of my children is due to all and I urge you to stand against injustice."
