Minutes after the blasts in Hyderabad, Bangalore was placed on high alert. Intelligence bureau sources said security in Bangalore had been beefed up

Bangalore city police sources said extra policemen had been deployed at the Bangalore airport and railway station. Passengers were checked thoroughly before they were let in.

The IB sources said that immediately after the Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad, the central IB had instructed them to keep a strict vigil on persons coming into Bangalore. The IB says that there are reports that terrorist attacks being planned during Raksha Bandhan, Krishna Janmasthami and Shab-e-Barat.

The Bangalore police are however taking no chances. Immigration authorities are working overtime and checking the antecedents of all foreign students coming into the city while the IB continues to keep a watch on sleeper cells. The IB said that although the blasts had occurred in Hyderabad, Bangalore continues to remain under the scanner as it has been termed as a sensitive city.

"There will be no let up in security and the police cannot afford to take chances, especially after the IISC attack, the UK terror plot and now the Hyderabad blasts," a senior police officer told rediff.com. A meeting of top police officials is also scheduled to be held in order to review the security in Karnataka.
