A Central Industrial Security Force officer was seriously injured in Chennai on Monday after he was stabbed by a constable at the airport in the wee hours.

The accused, Arumugam, 42, is absconding, the police said.

The police and CISF officials said that Vijay Kumar, 48, a DSP in the Bomb Disposal Squad of CISF, which is entrusted with the security arrangements at the airport, was attacked by his subordinate, who suspected his role in the latter's suspension.

The suspension was based on a departmental inquiry last year due to dereliction of duty by Arumugam and he believed that Kumar was responsible for this, official sources said.

The officer has been admitted to a private hospital here with serious stab wounds, they added.
