The Hyderabad police on Thursday detained a person with a 'striking resemblance' to the Lumbini Park bomber.
Two deadly bomb blasts at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat in Hyderabad had claimed 42 lives and injured over 50 people on Saturday.
Malakpet's Inspector of Police Someshwar Rao told rediff.com, "We have taken a person into custody while he was traveling from Nalgonda to Hyderabad by bus. We intercepted the bus at Malakpet crossroads and detained him. He was traveling with his wife and a one-year-old child. His name is Rakesh Singh and he lives in the Mohammedi Lines locality in Toli Chowki area of the city."
"He has a striking resemblance to the suspect whose sketch was released on Wednesday. Earlier, some people were arrested from the same locality for their connection with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence. After making preliminary inquiries, we handed him over to the Special Investigation Team for further interrogation," Rao added.
The police detained Singh at about 3 pm on Thursday after receiving a tip-off that a man resembling the bomber was among the passengers in the Hyderabad-bound bus.
Additional Commissioner of Police M Punna Rao, who is heading the special investigation team probing the twin bomb attacks, had released the sketch on Wednesday. The sketch depicts a fair, well-built man in his mid-20s, suspected to be the bomber responsible for the Lumbini Park blast.
The sketch was made according to the description given by one of the eyewitnesses at the park, who sat near the alleged bomber. Later, the eyewitness shifted to another seat.
