A prominent Muslim cleric on Monday asked the government to throw controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen [Images] out of the country if she did not apologise unconditionally for her 'anti-Islam' writings.
Warning that Muslims will not tolerate the writer for her alleged anti-Islamic publications, the Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari said she should tender an 'open and written apology to the Muslims'.
'Taslima should tender a written apology for all her anti-Islamic publications as per the traditions of the Holy Prophet. The apology must bear her assurance that in the future, she will desist from repeating such venomous writing that may have any inkling of blasphemy,' he said in a statement. 'Otherwise, the existence of Taslima Nasreen shall not be tolerated by the Indian Muslims and the entire responsibility of the consequences shall rest upon the government.'
