A special court on Thursday remanded Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli, main accused in the Nithari serial killings, to 14 days' Central Bureau of Investigation custody.

The duo were produced before special CBI Judge Sapna Misra, who sent them to 14 days remand for the murder of Nanda Devi, Pandher's maid servant.

This is the third time that Pandher and Koli were remanded to CBI custody since the serial killings case, which shook the nation, came to light.

They were brought in through the backdoor of the court complex under a cloud of secrecy at around 10 am, Superintendent of Police Govind Aggrawal told reporters in Ghaziabad.

Media personnel were barred from entering the courtroom, where the proceedings lasted for about five minutes.

All entry points to the court complex were barred and tight security measures were put in place.

Pandher and Koli were severely beaten up by a group of lawyers and the public when they were produced in the court last time on January 25.

The Central probe agency had taken the custody of the two accused on January 11 from the Uttar Pradesh police and registered a total of 19 cases against them.

The police had on December 29 recovered skulls and human remains from a drain behind Pandher's D-5, Sector 31 residence in Noida unearthing the serial killings of children and women allegedly by him and his domestic help Koli.
