Airport officials seized diamonds worth Rs 35 lakh from a passenger when he attempted to board a Bangkok bound Thai airways flight in Chennai on Saturday, a top customs official said.Describing it as a major seizure of diamonds here in the past 11 years, N Rajan, Collector, Customs (Airports), told reporters that 35-year-old Shiek Mohideen, who was taken into custody, had concealed the diamonds in a handbag. He told the officials that he was taking the diamonds to Bangkok to selling on Valentine's day.
