Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar on Thursday said India will start constructing its Advance Heavy Water Reactor later this year as part of its domestic nuclear programme.
"The project will take five to six years to complete," Dr Kakodkar told reporters at the 94th Indian Science Congress.
Without giving the location of the reactor, he said it would cost Rs 5 to 6 crore per MW.
The chairman said the project was undergoing pre-licensing review.
