With new names from the country's IT capital cropping up every day in the United Kingdom's terror plot, the Bangalore police have now decided to do their bit and commenced an independent inquiry into the antecedents of the trio -- Mohammed Haneef, and Kafeel and Sabeel Ahmed -- who are allegedly embroiled in it. Bangalore's Commissioner of Police Achuth Rao says the inquiry has begun, but it is too early to arrive at any sort of conclusion.
The state intelligence wing, however, believes that both Haneef and Sabeel, the two doctors, may have had links with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India.
State intelligence sources claim that as per the information they have gathered, Sabeel and Kafeel had joined the Tableeghi Jamaat, an Islamic group.
The police have started questioning several people whom they believe are close to the trio. Although the police have not "officially" received any intimation from their counterparts both in the UK and Australia, the police feel any information they gather now would be helpful in the long run.
Apart from quizzing friends and family, the police is also keeping track on phone calls made by the Ahmed family, and its bank transactions.
