Angered by the Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam government's notice asking to demolish her party's headquarters in the heart of the city, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Sunday vowed to "wipe out" the ruling party from the political sphere of the state.

Describing the government's action as a political vendetta, Jayalalithaa said in a statement here that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi should realise that he was enjoying power "only on a temporary basis."

"Power has gone to his head and that is why he is acting in such a manner," she said.

When she and her mentor M G Ramachandran were the Chief Ministers of the state, they did not even think of asking the DMK to demolish 'Anna Arivalayam,' the DMK headquarters in Chennai, she said.

But Karunanidhi had asked her party to demolish the headquarters without realising that it was a "fort built on the sacrifices of partymen."
