Expressing satisfaction at the verdict in the murder of Indian Oil sales manager S Manjunath, his family said on Friday that his killers, who were found guilty by a court, should be hanged.
"I am not going to get anything. The only thing is that the guilty people should be punished. They should be hanged. I lost my son, I am not getting him back," said Manjunath's father Shanmugam, choking with tears.
Shanmugam, who works with the Bharat Earth Movers Limited in Kolar Gold Fields, said the country should be proud of his son.
Manjunath's brother Raghavendra, who works in Bangalore, said, "There is nothing like happiness in our lives at this point of time. But there is some kind of satisfaction in this regard."
Demanding capital punishment for his brother's killers, Raghavendra said, "At least the people who are directly involved in the killing should be hanged."
The family thanked IIM alumni, IOC employees and the media for their support and cooperation during the trial.
"Maybe our family wouldn't have solved this problem independently and we really required their support," said Raghavendra.
All the eight accused in the November 19, 2005 murder of Manjunath were held guilty by a district court in Lakhimpur Kheri, which said it will pronounce the quantum of sentence on Monday after hearing prosecution and defence arguments.
Manjunath, an IIM-Lucknow graduate, was killed after he threatened to revoke the licence of a petrol pump owner for selling adulterated fuel.
