The Bahujan Samaj Party, which won a majority in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and is set to form the government without any other party's help, is likely to sit back and wait for the governor.
Party leaders in the BSP's Lucknow office said that since they have a majority, there is no need to panic and rush to stake the first claim to form the government.
The leaders said that Mayawati will wait for the complete results to come in before addressing the media and then wait for the governor's call.
"We don't need to rush to the governor. I think our leader will wait for the governor to call us to form the government," a leader said.
A new government has to be formed by May 14.

A sign of the changing times is the security in the BSP office and Mayawati's residence.
In a matter of hours, the office changed from a place where all and sundry were hanging around to a virtual fortress.
Till early afternoon, the BSP office was open to all -- media persons, supporters and anyone who cared to walk in.
But soon after the trends became clear, and it was known that Mayawati would become the chief minister, barricades sprung in place and every car in the vicinity -- baring the OB vans of television channels -- was cleared.
The policemen did not allow anyone inside, stopping even local presspersons. Only accredited media persons were allowed entry.
