Denouncing the recent bomb blast at a Hyderabad mosque, the United States on Wednesday conveyed its support to India in countering terrorism from 'wherever it is directed.'
Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns said there was room for cooperation between India and the US in fight against terrorism as well as defence field.
"India is a victim of terrorism. We saw that unfortunately and tragically just a several days back in Hyderabad where one of the venerable and beautiful mosques in India was bombed and a great number of people were killed or wounded," Burns said at a function at Heritage Foundation in Washington.
He said the US was with the people of Hyderabad who were the object of that terrorist attack.
"We support Indian government in trying to reduce the attacks that emanate from Kashmir, from Kashmiri separatist groups," he said.
Burns said Indians 'need to know' that the US is going to stand with the Indian government in 'trying to counter terrorism from wherever it is directed and we need to be worldwide partners in fight against terrorism.'
