In what is seen as a preparedness for a possible mid-term poll, the Congress has decided to arm its workers countrywide with "bullet points and talking points" to explain to the people the party's achievements and its perceptions on national issues.
This was the idea of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi [Images], who asked the newly appointed publicity committee to prepare campaign points in capsule form for effective dissemination to the public through the party workers.
The committee, headed by Madhya Pradesh former chief minister Digvijay Singh, met at the AICC headquarters on Wednesday and decided to prepare documents on the Sethusamudram project, 60 years of progress of Independent India, the achievements of the United Progressive Alliance government, and the comparative analysis of achievements made in the last three years and those of the National Democratic Alliance in the last three years of its rule.
''Rahul wanted the committee to cull out bullet points and talking points from the documents, instead of burdening workers with the task of taking out fine points from them," Singh said.
The documents, which are meant to be used as a campaign material for the party, would be available on the party's website.
"It was a good meeting. All members provided their inputs on how best and how fast we can respond to issues and put forward the Congress' points of view," Singh said.
He said the committee would soon come out with documents on price rise and the Sachar Committee recommendations.
