A campaign has been launched to spread awareness about prevention of diabetes foot complications in Tamil Nadu.
Launched by leading hospital M V Hospital, the campaign was inaugurated with an interactive public discussion forum by Dr. T. P. Kalaniti, MD, Director of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu, in Chennai on Monday.
World renowned podiatrist Dr. Ali Foster, Honorary Consultant at Kings College, NHS London [Images], shared insights on prevention of foot complications at a public interactive session attended by over 300 people.
On the occasion, Dr. Kalaniti also launched India's first online Diabetic Foot Care forum � www.mvdiabeticfoot.com. The forum will provide tips and advice for management and prevention of dreaded foot complications that could arise due to diabetes.
As a globally recognised health care centre for foot care complications, foot care specialists from M V Hospital will provide all the necessary content and counseling through the forum. To ensure that the awareness programme reaches right up to the grass-root level, M V Hospital also released a booklet titled 'Tips on Foot Care for People with Diabetes'.
"The 'Online Diabetic Foot Care programme' will help us to reach patients across the globe and provide counseling and guidance for not only diabetic foot issues but for all kinds of foot related problems," said Dr. Vijay Viswanathan, Managing Director, MV Hospital.
Over the years, MV Hospital has registered over 2, 00,000 patients to-date.
The Hospital along with Diabetes Research Centre also undertakes research and imparts postgraduate training to doctors in diabetology.
