The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has lost yet another strong bastion to the marauding Sri Lankan forces.

The troops have entered Alampil, 10km south of Mullaitivu, the main town held by the rebels on the north-east coast, the BBC said, quoting Army sources.

BBC also says fighting has been reported outside the town of Kilinochchi, the Tiger's  headquarters.

Military spokesman Brig Udaya Nanayakkara did not give casualty details, the report said.
