The Maharashtra police's Anti-Terrorism Squad on Tuesday obtained transit remand of a Lashkar-e-Tayiba militant, who had been arrested in connection with the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force camp in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh [Images], to investigate his links with the terror attack on Mumbai last week.

Special Judge (Gangster [Images] Act) Mohammad Hussain granted the transit remand of Sabahuddin on an application moved by a Maharashtra ATS team.

On December 12, the Maharashtra police had taken another terrorist Fahim Ansari on transit remand from Bareilly jail. He was also an accused in the CRPF camp attack case.

Sabahuddin was arrested in Lucknow on February 11, 2007 for his alleged involvement in the attack on the CRPF camp in Rampur and masterminding the December 28, 2005 attack on the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

The Mumbai Police, sources said, wanted Sabahuddin's remand as he had named one Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi as the terrorist who trained him at an LeT camp.

Rehman's name was also mentioned by Mohammad Amir Ajmal Kasab [Images], the lone terrorist arrested in the Mumbai attack case.
