Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday said that the state government had recommended an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the illegal kidney transplant case, so that it could not be accused of shielding any politician or bureaucrat.

"The government has handed over the inquiry of the matter to the CBI so that no one can charge us with shielding any political leader or official," Mayawati said while speaking on the motion of thanks on the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the state legislature in the Vidhan Sabha.

The Chief Minister's assertion comes in the wake of allegations by Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav that the house of a senior bureaucrat in Noida had been used for illegal kidney transplant.

 Official sources had already denied the allegations.

On the alleged involvement of a member of her cabinet and his son in a triple murder case in Ghaziabad recently, Mayawati said that the government had taken it seriously.
 
"We have taken the allegations seriously...an investigation is going on...he (minister) will not be spared if found guilty', she said.

On the SP charge about appointing a non-cadre IAS officer as Cabinet Secretary and granting him the status of a Cabinet Minister, Mayawati said she would not like to comment on it as the matter was pending in the court.
