People's Democratic Party, which pulled out from the Jammu and Kashmir [Images] government on June 28, on Friday issued a whip to its legislators to vote against the Ghulam [Images] Nabi Azad-led government on July 7.

PDP chief whip Abdul Gaffar Sofi asked party legislators to remain present in the Assembly on July 7 at 10 am, when the state government will try to prove its majority.

The whip has asked party legislators to vote against any motion to be brought by the state government to prove its majority, a PDP spokesman said.

The spokesman said that if a member votes against the party whip, the legislative party leader can declare him disqualified immediately.

"Even if a member is expelled from the party he cannot violate the whip in accordance with the Supreme Court ruling and will face the same provisions of disqualification," he said.

The PDP, which entered into a power-sharing agreement with the Congress and independent MLAs following a hung verdict in 2002 polls, pulled out from the Azad-led government over the issue of Amarnath land transfer.

Governor N N Vohra has asked the chief minister to prove his majority on the floor of the House of July 7 after Azad, in a written communique, informed Raj Bhavan that he enjoys the support of majority in the assembly.
