The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday denied newsreports that claimed that Dr Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur were not at home the night their daughter Aarushi and servant Hemraj were killed.

"A section of the media has reported--quoting CBI sources--that Dr Rajesh Talwar and Dr Nupur Talwar were not present in their house on the night of May 15, 2008. This news item is speculative and not true. Investigation in the case is progressing diligently," a statement released by the CBI said.

Some newspapers and TV channels had claimed that Dr Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur had booked 12 rooms in a hotel outside Delhi to prove that they were not in their Noida home the night Aarushi and Hemraj were murdered.

The CBI has arrested Dr Talwar, his compounder Krishna and Rajkumar, the servant of Talwar's family friend Anita Durrani, in connection to the case.

The case, which was transferred to the CBI from the Noida police, has virtually reached a dead-end after a series of scientific tests conducted on the three suspects failed to yield any conclusive results.
