A day after Janata Dal - Secular Member of Parliament Shivanna reportedly voted in favour of the United Progressive Alliance government in defiance of the party directive, the disciplinary committee of the JD-S is expected to meet in Bengaluru to take stock of the situation and debate on the action to be taken against him.

"We have learnt through media that Shivanna, our Chamarajanagar MP, supported the trust vote moved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on the floor of the Lok Sabha. Our party president H D Deve Gowda has convened the meeting of the disciplinary committee today in Delhi", Karnataka unit chief Merajuddin Patel said.

A meeting of top leaders of the party will also be called shortly to discuss organisational issues including the alleged cross voting by Shivanna, he said.

Patel condemned luring of MPs by cash to win the trust vote.

Of the three MPs JDS has in Lok Sabha, M P Veerendra Kumar and Deve Gowda voted against the motion in line with decision the party had taken.
