It was near chaos in this IT hub after serial bombings in seven of Bengaluru's central areas and crowded streets claimed a life and injured several others.

As the news of the blasts spread, major shopping malls and schools were closed down even as police swarmed the city roads.

Traffic went haywire as police put up barricades and closed down certain roads.

The scene of the blasts were buzzing with khaki-clad men, forensic experts and media personnel and even curious onlookers.

Many people, mostly office-goers, chose to leave for their homes after the blasts.

The bomb disposal unit of the the Benagluru police along with the dog squad were also put into service.

Trained labradors were seen sniffing through the blasts spots. One could also see policemen checking cars parked near the blasts scene even as they frisked people carrying bags.

"When I first heard the blast I misunderstood it to be a cracker. Later, I saw people running and then my friends told me it was a blast," said Arun Daniel, as one blast took place opposite his house.

The crude bombs, concealed near refugee camps and the roadside stuffed with nuts and bolts, exploded during the busy lunch hour at Adugodi, Madivala, Nayandahalli, Pantharapalya and Vittal Mallya Road.

Bengalaru was reminded of IISc terrorist attack in 2005, which left a professor dead.

"Security is a concern. This comes after the IISc attack and should be condemned," said a resident.
