A team of the National Security Guards will arrive in Bengaluru on Saturday to probe into the serial blasts that rocked the city on Friday.

The NSG will work along with the Special Investigation Team and the City Crime Branch.

Bangalore, meanwhile, has been placed on red alert following the Friday serial blasts.

City Police Commissioner, Shankar Bidri told media persons that investigations are on and they were awaiting the reports from the Forensic Sciences Laboratory.

He also said that 24 platoons have already been deployed in the city and that they would patrol the city full time. More platoons will be deployed if required, he added.

The police are not yet been able to ascertain as to who could be behind the blasts. While SIMI has emerged as the usual suspect, the police are also looking into other angles as they feel that the bombs were prepared by an unprofessional.

An IB official told rediff.com that it was too early to come to any sort of conclusion at the moment. The bombs bear no signature and we are trying to join the dots before coming to any conclusion, the official said.

Apart from the routine investigation, the police will also launch a renewed attack against the terror modules and cells operating in Karnataka. In Karnataka, there are around five sleeper cells, one being in the vicinity of Bangalore city while the remaining in the northern part of the state.

Information regarding these cells and modules had come out during the interrogation of Riazuddin Nasir, the SIMI operative arrested in North Karnataka a few months ago. He had also provided vital information regarding the other operatives and also said that Bangalore was on the hit list for a considerable period of time.
