A television channel on Thursday received an email purportedly written by the Indian Mujahideen [Images], which had claimed responsibility for the Ahmedabad [Images] blasts, threatening to blow up its office.
The email sent to India TV had the same ID used by Indian Mujahideen, believed to be a shadow amalgam of th ebanned Students Islamic Movement of India and the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba, to send the emails to a number of media houses minutes ahead of the serial blasts in Ahmedabad last weekend.
The mail sent from alarbi_gujarat@yahoo.com warned the television channel that its office would be blown up.
Initial investigations into the email showed that the user had created a temporary Wide Area Network (WAN) connection from a California-based domain, official sources said.
The authorities were also probing the possibility that the email address might have been spoofed.
In the meantime, the TV channel has lodged a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh [Images] police as well as with the Union home ministry seeking all possible measures to ensure the safety of its staff and property.
