A powerful explosion in south Kashmir late on Tuesday evening killed two persons, including a woman, and injured six others of a family.

Suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade which exploded inside the house of Abdul Hameed Nengroo in Reshnagri village of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

"One woman died on the spot while seven others received critical injuries, one of whom, identified as Bashir Ahmad Wagay, succumbed to critical injuries in hospital," a senior police officer said.

The injured were shifted to Srinagar [Images] for specialised treatment. Attending doctors described the condition of one more injured person as serious.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
