Hundreds of Buddhist monks in Bihar's Bodh Gaya on Monday offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple and held a peaceful protest to show solidarity with Tibetans in China.

They staged a silent demonstration to express their solidarity with Tibet [Images]an agitators and protested China's iron-fisted rule over Tibet in the wake of the recent turmoil in Tibet.

"We demand freedom for Tibet. We have been under the Chinese rule since 1959. We want peace in Tibet," said Tenzin Kuntok, a monk.

Large numbers of Tibetan live in Bodh Gaya . Dalai Lama [Images] has close association with the Tibetan monastery at Bodh Gaya.
