Sitaram Yechury, Communist Party of India-Marxist member of the Rajya Sabha, demanded that the government should call a fresh session of the two houses of parliament and not continue with the present session.

"We want a full session of Parliament. So far we have had 35 days of work and we want to have atleast one hundred days of work. We did not  show any disrespect to the speaker. There could be difference of opinion between the chair and the members who raised the issue. The members are entitled to have their own point of view," Yechury told rediff.com after addressing a press conference in New Delhi [Images].

The Marxist leader claimed that the India had survived the American meltdown because the Left had time and again emphsised not going along with Americans. Finance minister P Chidambaram has gone on record that the Indian economy would not be adversely affected by the American slowdown.

Yechury said that it was wrong on the part of the Union government to claim credit for remaining 'untouched'.

"Friday could be the last day before the government summons a fresh session in December, we want fresh session so we could bring no confidence motion against the government," Yechury said.
