UPA trying to jail me, says Mulayam
February 27, 2009 03:10 IST
Lashing out at the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre to which his party has extended outside support, the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav [Images] on Thursday charged it with trying to send him to jail with the help of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

"The government, which we have supported during the height of the Indo-US nuclear deal imbroglio, is now trying to send me to jail with CBI's help, he said.

"The CBI is preparing fake documents to frame me in the assets case," the former Uttar Pradesh [Images] Chief Minister told a function at Charan Singh P G College in Etawah.

He said party general secretary Amar Singh [Images], however, came to know about this and found out how "the property of others was mentioned against my name".
