Vijay Kumar five strokes aheadLucknow's Vijay Kumar and Kanpur's Shiv Prakash stole the thunder - the former was five strokes ahead with the best total of 135 to the latter's 140 - as Ali Sher, the first round leader, fell into his characteristic erratic phase and dropped to sixth position by playing five over the course par of 72, in the second round of the 72-hole Cosmo Hindu Open Professional Golf championship at the picturesque Cosmo course in Madras today. Vijay Kumar seeking another "Order of Merit" recognition, was at his best to shoot a six under par 66. He had a fine four under par 69 in the first round. However, Delhi's Gaurav Ghei, a three-time winner in this competition, and joint second yesterday with Vijay Kumar, slipped to fifth position, putting up a poor display like Ali Sher. Gaurav, who parred the course after playing 12 holes today, dropped strokes to finish with a five over par 77 to tally 141. The day also belonged to the experienced Kanpur pro Shiv Prakash, who fired a three under par 69 to pull himself up, and Calcutta's Feroz Ali, who shot to third position, firing a two under 70 to tally 140.
