HAL hold VascoDebutants Hindustan Aeronautic Limited fought back to hold Vasco, Goa, to a 1-1 draw in the sixth National Football League at Nehru stadium in Margao, Goa, on Thursday. Vasco, who had better share of exchanges in the first half, shot into the lead in the 25th minute through Peter Rodrigues. HAL dominated the second half and restored parity in the 36th minute through Sunil Kumar. Both the teams played attacking game throughout but were unable to score in the second session. Vasco, who started in right earnest dictated terms for the first 25 minutes and had more of the exchanges. Their first chance came in the 19th minute when a powerful shot from the top of the box by Daniel Colaco was well saved by HAL 'keeper Gumpe Rime. Three minutes later, Gumpe Rime again came to the rescue of his team when he collected a Marcos Pereira header from close, off a flag kick taken by Avazbek Koshimov. Few minutes later, Satish Minz shot sailed inches over the bar. Vasco kept up the pressure and surged ahead in the 25th minute. Avazbek, from the left, lobbed the ball to Rui Wanderley Weis, who got the better of a defender and chipped the ball into the goal. Keeper Rime tried to palm away the ball but could not prevent Peter Rodrigues from heading home from close.
