Air India too good for CRPF

March 10, 2003 22:11 IST

Two superb goals by Anthony Fernandes enabled Air India beat Central Reserve Police Force, Neemuch, 3-0 in the opening match of the second division National Football League at the Nehru stadium in Indore on Monday.

The Air India players were in attack mode right from the beginning, with its main striker Fernandes opening the team's account in the 25th minute.

After half-time, Fernandes again struck in the 50th minute to put the team in a commanding position.

Though CRPF put up a strong defence, the team failed to convert the opportunities into goals.

Steven Dias scored the third goal for the airmen before the final whistle.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by former Test crickter Mushtaq Ali.
