Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard was named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year on Sunday.
The award capped a fine weekend for Gerrard after Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday to reach the FA Cup final.
Last year the award went to Chelsea captain John Terry. Arsenal's [Images] Thierry Henry [Images] won in 2003 and 2004.
Manchester United's [Images] Wayne Rooney [Images] won the Young Player of the Year award on Sunday.
