Holders Chelsea will meet Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the League Cup next month following the draw made on Saturday. Last season's beaten finalists Arsenal travel to Blackburn Rovers, while Manchester City play Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United host Everton in the other games.
Chelsea have won the League Cup twice in the last three seasons beating Liverpool 3-2 in 2005 and Arsenal last season.
The two sides have met regularly in both European and domestic matches recently and their last clash ended in a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in August.
Manchester City, who have made a good start to the season under former England [Images] coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, last won a major title when they lifted the League Cup in 1976.
They will fancy their chances of progressing against a Spurs side who have just one win from their opening 11 league games.
All ties will be played in the week commencing December 17 with the exception of West Ham against Everton which will take place in the week of December 10.
The final is at Wembley Stadium on February 24 after being staged in Cardiff for seven seasons while Wembley was being rebuilt.
