Bhutia extends Mohun Bagan contract April 02, 2008 20:35 IST Baichung Bhutia has extended his contract with Mohun Bagan for two more years. The 30-year-old captain of India's football team, who switched allegiance from East Bengal to Bagan in June 2006, said he is very happy to continue playing with the Kolkata giants. "With the love and support I have received from the members, supporters and club management I am pleased to sign a contract with Mohun Bagan for the next two years as well," Bhutia said on Wednesday. Asked about the prospect of playing under Moroccan coach Karim Bencherifa, he replied, "Karim, I've heard, is a great coach and will certainly add value to the team. He is one of the most successful coaches in recent times and I am looking forward to working under him." He, however, refused to compare Bencherifa with the other foreign coaches. ''I don't like to compare, but I have seen him coach Churchill Brothers with great success. He turned the side on its head," he said. Mohun Bagan secretary Anjan Mitra said, "We are happy to have Baichung with us. We are pleased to inform you that Baichung Bhutia has entered into a contract with our club as a registered footballer for two seasons -- 2008-2009 and 2009-2010."
